Net zero carbon

Delivering a forward-thinking scheme

We want this to be a landmark scheme for the local area. In order to achieve that, we’re committed to a forward-thinking approach to design that puts sustainability at its heart.

At Junction 15 we are committing to net zero carbon construction. This means we are minimising carbon emissions through efficient design, sustainable materials, and renewable energy sources. We will then offset remaining emissions through carbon removal projects, such as new trees and hedgerows. We are also committed to a BREEAM Excellent development. This means Junction 15 will rank in the top 10% of new non-domestic buildings in the UK in terms of environmental performance.

This is an approach we have already successfully taken with our development at Bardon Hill in Coalville, which was nominated for a Design Excellence Award.

Biodiversity

A scheme that works for wildlife

We are committed to ensuring that any scheme delivered at Junction 15 works for local wildlife as well as the local community. As part of the plans, we will retain the existing woodland areas onsite, recognising their crucial role in providing habitats, tackling climate change, and supporting natural flood prevention. Additionally, we will introduce a range of ecological enhancements, with new planting areas to create additional habitats for local wildlife. These efforts will ensure that the proposals deliver a net gain in biodiversity.

Sustainable travel

Promoting active travel

As part of the plans, we are also looking at ways in which we can incorporate and enhance opportunities for sustainable modes of travel, such as walking, cycling, and using public transport. By doing this, we help to reduce pressures on local roads and support the environment.

In addition to these enhancements, while the site’s strategic location minimises the need for major infrastructure upgrades, we are committed to ensuring that any potential impacts on local roads are carefully managed. We will work closely with West Northamptonshire Council, National Highways, and other relevant authorities to ensure that our plans align with the needs of the surrounding road network and the local community.
